JRE starts 3-MW solar park in Shiga

November 20 (Solar) – Japan Renewable Energy (JRE) has commenced the commercial operation of a 3-MW solar park in Japan’s Shiga prefecture, according to information on the company's website.

The Kamikomazuki Solar Power Plant, located in Hino town, is expected to generate 3.48 million kWh per year, or enough power to meet the needs of about 1,000 households. This is equal to roughly 12% of the homes in the town. Kamikomazuki is also to avoid around 1,800 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually.

Construction of the 9,000-panel photovoltaic (PV) park was initiated in March this year. The facility will now be operated by GK JRE Kamikomazuki, JRE stated on its website.

Earlier this month, JRE switched on a 3.4-MW solar plant in Miho village, Ibaraki prefecture. This plant is the company's fourth operational facility in the same village.
