November 19 (Solar) – Tokyo-based Japan Asia Investment Co Ltd (TYO:8518) announced on Friday it has completed a 2.6-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Iwate prefecture.
The Ichinoseki City Suzugasawa Solar Power Station, as it is named, is the second half of the 5.3-MW Ichinoseki complex, developed using the solar sharing method. In this method, the PV panels are installed high above the ground so that the land below can be used to grow crops.
This solar plant was developed in a partnership with Renewable Japan Co Ltd and Tokyu Land Corp, with financing from Tohoku Bank, the company stated in its press release.
Covering an area of 58,095 sq m, Suzugasawa Solar is comprised of 9,460 solar panels with an estimated annual power generation of about 3,030,975 kWh, enough to meet the annual demand of some 683 households, Japan Asia noted.
