Origis Energy breaks ground on 200-MW solar project in Georgia

November 9 (Solar) – Florida-based Origis Energy USA on Thursday announced it has kicked off construction on the 200-MW GA Solar 4 project in the state of Georgia.

The project was developed by First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:FSLR), which will be in charge of its construction and will deliver equipment for the plant. Origis bought the scheme from First Solar at the end of last month.

To be located in Twiggs County near Warner Robins, the photovoltaic (PV) park will use more than 500,000 of First Solar’s Series 6 thin-film modules that will installed on single axis tracker mounts. Following its completion in December 2019, the plant will sell its entire output and renewable attributes to local utility Georgia Power through its Renewable Energy Development Initiative (REDI) programme.

The scheme is the largest infrastructure project in the county and is expected to create up to 400 jobs during construction, according to the announcement.
