November 8 (Solar) – The Virginia State Corporation Commission has cleared a proposed 80-MW solar power purchase agreement (PPA) between a unit of Dominion Energy Inc (NYSE:D) and Water Strider Solar LLC.
The commission approved on November 2 a petition of Virginia Electric and Power Company, doing business as Dominion Energy Virginia, with regard to the 20-year solar power supply contract.
The petition mentions that the particular project will be developed in Halifax County, Virginia by Cypress Creek Renewables and, upon completion, the plant will be interconnected to the Dominion Energy Virginia Transmission system.
The commission has determined that the project developer bears essentially all of the risk of the proposed scheme, including cost overruns and lack of performance, while the PPA provides significant safeguards for Dominion customers.
According to the petition, the solar park should be up and running in the fourth quarter of 2020.
