November 6 (Solar) – Spain-based Fotowatio Renewable Ventures (FRV) announced on Monday it has signed a 67.8-MW solar power purchase agreement (PPA) with Australian electricity retailer Snowy Hydro.
The Spanish company will deliver power from its Goonumbla Solar Farm project to be developed in the state of New South Wales.
Spread over an 385-hectare (951.3 acre) area, Goonumbla is expected to break ground in April 2019 with operations seen to commence in June 2020.
When completed, the photovoltaic (PV) plant is estimated to generate approximately 195,000 MWh of clean energy per year, enough to meet the energy demand more than 45,000 Australian households and help offset around 140,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually.
This PPA was selected through Snowy Hydro’s Renewable Energy Procurement Program. The project is FRV´s sixth in the country, where the company has an additional 361 MW, it noted.
