to-the-point: Trina Solar modules to power 17-MW floating PV plant in France

November 5 (Solar) – China’s Trina Solar Ltd said last week it has delivered equipment for Akuo Energy’s 17-MW floating solar park in France, the first one in the country and Europe's largest one.

Called O'MEGA1, the photovoltaic (PV) plant uses more than 46,000 units of Trina Solar's TSM-DEG14.20 dual-glass PERC monocrystalline modules mounted on Hydrelio floating structures by Ciel & Terre. The facility is installed on the lake in the old Piolenc quarry in Vaucluse, southeast France, and is expected to produce enough power to meet the needs of over 4,700 homes, offsetting around 11,100 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually.

Bouygues Energies Services has been tasked with building the solar power plant, which will be selling its output directly on the markets via the E6 aggregator.
