November 2 (Solar) – Utility-scale solar developer Lightsource BP said today it has been selected in a competitive round to supply 105 MWp of solar power to Snowy Hydro Ltd in New South Wales, Australia.
The company has secured a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) in a tender for renewables capacity that Snowy Hydro launched in May. Its proposal was one of the eight winning offers in the significantly oversubscribed tender, according to the announcement.
Lightsource BP will supply the power from a “ground-mounted solar installation that is fully funded, constructed and maintained” by it.
Snowy Hydro, which owns the 4.1-GW Snowy Mountains hydroelectric scheme, said in May it is seeking to contract up to 400 MW of wind and 400 MW of solar generation in order to expand its renewables portfolio and meet growing customer demand. The tender got 17,600 MW of proposals and awarded eight contracts totalling 888 MW.
