Fuyo Lease building 60-MW PV plant in Fukushima

October 25 (Solar) – Fuyo General Lease Co Ltd (TYO:8424) said on Tuesday it has broken ground on a 60-MW photovoltaic (PV) plant in Fukushima prefecture.

The given capacity is in direct current (DC).

Scheduled to commence commercial operation on February 1, 2020, the PV facility in Namie town is a project of Fuyo's local subsidiary Namie Sakai Solar.

With an estimated annual generation of 60.27 million kWh, enough to meet the demand of about 16,700 households, the solar park is considered the largest of its kind in the Tohoku area. To partially finance this project, Fuyo plans to procure funds through green bonds to be issued in November of this year.

The company is one of the first Japanese leasing firms to enter the RE100 initiative, which unites companies from various sectors aiming to fully power their operations with renewables.
