CVE Chile buys 4 solar plants for $45 million

CVE Chile has purchased four solar PV plants totaling 45 MW from Solarpack in Chile for a total of US$45 million.

The Chilean subsidiary of the CVE Group announced today it has bought four PV plants, each totaling 9 MW in size, from Spain-based Solarpack.

The projects are currently under construction in San Clemente and Linares (VII region), near Rancagua (VI region), and in the North of Chile near Pozo Almonte (I region).

Set to be commissioned in 2019, they are being developed under the government’s PMGD scheme, which encourages the development small (sub-9 MWac) power generation plants.

CVE Chile CEO, Pierre Boulestreau, said the company aims to develop around 40 MWp per year, reaching a renewable energy generating capacity of 220 MWp by 2022.

Meanwhile, Solarpack says it has developed more than 120 MWp of PV projects in Chile, and built 67.5 MWp.
