to-the-point: SPI Energy connects to grid 2.4-MW PV plant in Japan

October 24 (Solar) – Hong Kong-headquartered SPI Energy Co Ltd (NASDAQ:SPI) announced today it has hooked to the grid a 2.4-MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Japan's Chiba prefecture.

With an estimated annual generation of 3.1 million kWh, the Shibayama 2 solar plant is the second half of a 4.8-MW engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) partnership with Kyocera Corp (TYO:6971), SPI Energy said, adding that the asset has now been transferred.

Shibayama 2 has a 20-year feed-in-tariff (FiT) contract with local utility Tokyo Electric Power Company (TYO:9501) to supply its output at a tariff of JPY 36 (USD 0.32/EUR 0.28) per kWh, SPI noted.

(JPY 100 = USD 0.89/EUR 0.78)
