Origis Energy buys 200-MW project in Georgia from First Solar

October 24 (Solar) – Florida-based Origis Energy USA has bought the 200-MW GA Solar 4 Project in Georgia from developer First Solar Inc (NASDAQ:FSLR) for an undisclosed sum.

The particular facility will be built in Twiggs County near Warner Robins, with the construction process starting early next month. The solar park will use more than 500,000 thin-film solar modules supplied by First Solar and installed on single axis tracker mounts. It is the largest infrastructure project in the county and is expected to create up to 400 jobs during construction, according to the announcement.

Upon completion of the plant, Origis will be selling its output and renewable attributes to local utility Georgia Power through its Renewable Energy Development Initiative (REDI) programme.
