Enel adds 1.13 GW of renewables in 12 mo

October 24 (Solar) – Italian energy major Enel SpA (BIT:ENEL) has increased its installed renewable energy capacity around the world by 3% over the past 12 months by adding about 1,130 MW.

As at end-September 2018, the group had 84,932 MW of net installed capacity, including 38,372 MW of renewables, compared to 83,856 MW with 37,243 MW of renewables a year earlier.

The following table gives more details about the change in the company’s portfolio over the past 12 months.

Most of the newly-added renewable energy capacity is located in South America, where Enel now has 13,229 MW compared to 12,211 MW a year back. The increase is mainly attributed to an increase in onshore wind capacity there up to 1,666 MW from 1,362 MW at end-September 2017.

The group’s net production rose by 1.8% year-on-year to 187,764 GWh even though thermal power generation decreased by 9.2%.
