October 24 (Solar) – Delta Electronics India Pvt Ltd announced today it has supplied two 1-MW DelCEN1000 central inverters to a recently commissioned floating solar power project in India.
Local firm Greater Visakhapatnam Smart City Corporation Ltd (GVSCCL) is the developer of the 2-MW grid-connected floating photovoltaic (PV) plant. In all, the facility required around INR 120 million (USD 1.6m/EUR 1.4m) in investments.
GVSCCL is a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) that was created in 2016 to execute projects proposed under the Smart City Plan for Vishakhapatnam, Delta said in its press release.
Spread over an area of around 4.5 acres (18.2 hectares) on the Mudasarlova reservoir, this PV system is expected to generate enough power to offset around 28,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually.
Currently, Delta has more than 1.5 GW of string and central grid-tied solar inverters installed around India, the firm noted.
