October 22 (Solar) – Washington governor Jay Inslee last week cleared the Columbia Solar Project, including five solar systems with a combined capacity of 25 MW, of Tuusso Energy LLC.
Inslee approved the site certification agreements for the project in line with the recommendations of the Energy Facility Site Evaluation Council (EFSEC) that were submitted to the governor in August.
Columbia Solar Project will be one of the first solar farms in the state of Washington. It is also one of the first energy project approved by the governor under EFSEC's expedited review process.
The project will see the constriction of five photovoltaic (PV) installations at five sites in Kittitas County, just outside of Ellensburg. Together, the five facilities are expected to produce enough power for about 5,000 homes.
The developer has made commitments to ensure that the sites can be returned to agricultural use after the facilities have come to the end of their useful life.
