Dominion Energy eyes 3-GW wind, solar expansion in Virginia

October 18 (Solar) – Dominion Energy Inc (NYSE:D) is seeking input from its non-residential clients regarding a plan to deploy 3 GW of wind and solar power capacity in Virginia.

The Request for Information survey was launched on Wednesday and is open to the company’s commercial, industrial and governmental customers. Results from it will help it assess the target group’s interest in renewable energy development and obtain information about their renewable energy targets.

“This information will help us adapt renewable programs to meet customer needs as we grow our renewable generation fleet in Virginia [..]," said Corynne Arnett, vice president customer service.

Dominion Energy plans to develop 3 GW of solar and wind projects under Virginia's Grid Transformation & Security Act (GTSA), which became law this summer. The proposed capacity, expected to be enough for 750,000 homes, will be under development or in operation by 2022, Dominion Energy said.
