Sterling and Wilson targets 200 MW of solar EPC contracts in Kazakhstan

October 11 (Solar) – Indian engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor Sterling and Wilson announced on Wednesday it is targeting 200 MW of solar contracts in Kazakhstan until 2020.

Sterling and Wilson has established a subsidiary in the country, which recently awarded 250 MW of wind projects and is expected to hold another tender for 180 MW of photovoltaic (PV) capacity before the end of the month.

These tenders are part of the Kazakh government efforts for increasing the share of renewable energy in the Central Asian country’s power generation mix to 3% by 2020 and to 10% by 2030.

Sterling and Wilson currently boasts an EPC portfolio of 6.14 GWp of solar power assets around the world, with a 1,177-MWp PV plant under construction in Abu Dhabi, it noted.
