October 11 (Solar) – Spanish solar products maker Soltec Renewable Energies said today it will supply 87.5 MW of its solar trackers to a couple of projects in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais.
Specifically, the company is supplying its equipment to a 82.5-MW large-scale plant to be develop in Guimarania town and a 5-MW distributed generation (DG) array in Uberlandia. With these agreements, Soltec hits the mark of 1 GW of tracker deliveries in the country.
Canadian Solar Inc (NASDAQ:CSIQ), EPC company Biosar and utility Global Power Generation (GPG) have partnered for the project in Guimarania, which will use nearly 250,000 PV modules and 2,800 SF7 single-axis trackers. The solar plant is currently under construction and is scheduled to start operations by the end of the year.
At the same time, Alsol Energias Renovaveis is in charge of the above-mentioned DG array, which is also using the SF7 trackers. Considered to be one the largest of its kind in Brazil, this solar farm is expected to commence power generation this month, Soltec noted.
