October 10 (Solar) – German inverter maker SMA Solar Technology (ETR:S92) announced on Tuesday it has surpassed 1 GW of installed solar capacity in Latin America.
The company's Latin American business covers Mexico, Central and South America, and the Caribbean. The 1 GW of installed solar comes mainly from commercial and utility-scale installations in Chile and Brazil, with some off-grid and hybrid systems as well, SMA said.
In addition to providing solar inverter sales and support, the firm also offers operation and maintenance (O&M) solutions in the region.
Last year, SMA created a subsidiary in Mexico and also has a unit in Santiago, Chile. The German company also recently set up a local service and product exchange programme in Mexico.
