October 10 (Solar) – UK infrastructure investor John Laing Group plc is investing GBP 27 million (USD 35.5m/EUR 30.9m) into a portfolio of two solar projects in the US state of North Carolina.
The particular portfolio includes two utility-scale photovoltaic (PV) projects, John Laing said on Tuesday. The UK group explained that the transaction, in which it is partnering with US solar power company Cypress Creek Renewables, complements its previous investments in US renewable energy projects. Its assets in the country include four solar parks in North Carolina and three wind farms in Texas and New Mexico.
Details about the target portfolio were not provided.
John Laing’s regional managing director for North America Anthony Phillips noted that demand for clean energy grows and equipment costs have fallen “dramatically.” Last year alone, some 2.9 GW of renewable energy projects were initiated in the US, including wind and solar, he added.
