October 10 (Solar) – Spanish electric utility Iberdrola SA (BME:IBE) announced today it will supply renewable power to local telecommunications company Euskaltel.
Under the power purchase agreement (PPA), the first between an energy company and a telecom in Spain, Iberdrola will deliver the power from its 391-MW Nunez de Balboa photovoltaic (PV) plant, to be constructed in Usagre town, within the autonomous community of Extremadura.
With this deal, Euskaltel is expected to offset 7,740 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year. The value of the agreement was not mentioned.
Iberdrola has more than 29,400 MW of installed renewable capacity around the world.
