October 5 (Solar) – Brazil's power sector regulator Aneel has given the go-ahead to local power producer AES Tiete Energia SA to commence commercial operations at a 30-MW portion of its 150-MW Guaimbe photovoltaic (PV) complex.
Specifically, Aneel cleared the start of operations of 22 units of 1.56 MW each that comprise the Guaimbe 3 solar park, the watchdog stated in an official document.
Located in Brazil’s Sao Paulo state, the Guaimbe PV complex was recently acquired by the Brazilian unit of US power producer AES Corp (NYSE:AES) from Cobra Brasil Servicos, Comunicacoes e Energia SA for BRL 607 million (USD 156.7m/EUR 136.1m).
This acquisition will generate earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA), after inflation adjustment, in the range of BRL 75 million to BRL 85 million, AES said previously.
