October 3 (Solar) – Solar assets manager Nautilus Solar Energy LLC has acquired a 6.6-MW community photovoltaic (PV) portfolio in Maryland, developed by Summit Ridge Energy and Synergen Solar, Nautilus announced on Tuesday.
The portfolio spans four separate plants located on a landfill in Prince George's County and is one of the largest all residential community solar projects developed to date, the company commented. The PV systems are qualified under Maryland's community solar pilot programme in the Pepco service territory. The portfolio is expected to be finalised through the remainder of the year and to start generating power in early 2019.
Nautilus will be in charge of the project and long-term asset management and maintenance services. The solar arrays will be owned by an affiliate of Virgo Investment Group — a minority shareholder of Nautilus. Their output will be supplied to residential off-takers, located within Pepco Maryland's service territory.
To date, a limited number of residential subscriptions to the system are available thаnks to a partnership with Neighborhood Sun.
