October 1 (Solar) – Russian solar company Hevel LLC announced on Friday plans to build and bring online a 60-MW solar park in the Republic of Kalmykia next year.
The photovoltaic (PV) plant will be installed at a site in Maloderbet district. This was announced by Hevel Group’s general director Igor Shakhray in front of the Council for the Improvement of the Investment Climate, while particular details about the scheme were not provided.
In May, Hevel signed an agreement with the local government to install at least 75 MW of solar power capacity in the Republic of Kalmykia by 2022. The plan calls for the construction of both grid-connected plants and distributed generation facilities that will be supplying isolated territories. Hevel said at the time that the scheme will enhance employment in Kalmykia by engaging local enterprises in the construction, installation and auxiliary equipment supply activities.
