September 28 (Solar) – Spanish company Naturgy Energy Group SA (BME:NTGY), formerly Gas Natural Fenosa, announced today it has started construction works on 100 MWp of solar farms.
The Picon I and II photovoltaic (PV) facilities are located in the province of Ciudad Real and are part of a three-plant project the company is developing in the area. They are comprised of 151,452 modules giving each facility a 50-MWp capacity, Naturgy said.
Overall, the plants have a total cost estimated at approximately EUR 100 million (USD 115.83m). Construction works are expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2019.
When the three plants are completed, they should be able to generate 270 GWh per year, enough to meet the annual demand of 108,000 homes and offset around 240,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions annually, Naturgy noted.
