September 21 (Solar) – Sharp Energy Solutions Corporation (SESJ), part of Sharp Corporation (TYO:6753), said today it will build two solar power plants in Vietnam, each with a direct current (DC) capacity of 49 MW.
The facilities will be constructed at locations in Binh Thuan Province and Long An Province as part of a deal with Gia Lai Hydropower JSC and TTC-Duc Hue Long An Power JSC. The two firms operate under the umbrella of the Thanh Thanh Cong Group (TTC Group).
Once up and running, the solar parks together will be generating some 149,740 MWh of electricity per year. This is equivalent to what 79,353 average Vietnamese homes consume in a year, SESJ said. The output of the two facilities will qualify for the feed-in tariff (FiT) that was introduced by the Vietnamese government in June 2017.
Vietnam aims to increase its solar power generating capacity to 850 MW by 2020 and to 12,000 MW by 2030.
