September 20 (Solar) – Enel Green Power Espana (EGPE) has initiated construction work on the 84.7-MW Totana solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Spain, it announced on Thursday.
The company estimates that it will need to invest a total of EUR 59 million (USD 69m) in this project, located in the Region of Murcia. The scheme calls for the installation of 248,000 PV modules which would make it EGPE’s largest solar plant in the country.
Commercial operations are scheduled to start in the third quarter of 2019.
EGPE is currently building 339 MW of solar and 540 MW of wind power plants that were contracted in the last two tenders in Spain. Totana is one of seven projects that were awarded to EGPE in July 2017. The company is fully owned by Spanish utility Endesa SA’s (BME:ELE) generation arm, which in turn is part of the Enel group of companies.
