Standard Solar buys 38-MW solar DG portfolio in New York

September 19 (Solar) – Standard Solar Inc said today it has acquired a 38-MW distributed generation (DG) photovoltaic (PV) portfolio in New York from local community solar developer US Light Energy, previously known as Solitude Solar.

The purchased portfolio comprises six projects, including one re-purposed landfill, that will be executed on a total of 180 acres (72.8 ha) in the towns of Hunter, Clifton Park, Turin, Croghan and Denmark. The systems will be deployed in two different utility territories across three different NYISO Load Zones and will be generating power for both residential and small commercial subscribers.

Together, the six solar arrays will be able to produce some 46.7 million kWh of electricity, which is enough to meet the annual power consumption of 3,775 typical American homes.

Commenting on the transaction, Scott Wiater, president and CEO of Standard Solar, said that thanks to the NY-Sun Initiative New York is one of the most active community solar markets in the US.
