September 17 (Solar) – Chile's Coquimbo Environmental Assessment Commission has approved the environmental impact assessment of a 9-MW photovoltaic (PV) project.
About USD 12 million (EUR 10.3m) will be invested in Parque Fotovoltaico Sunhunter SpA, located in the commune of Ovalle, the local government said last week. The company behind the project, Sunhunter SpA, has several other schemes in the country.
The new PV plant will have a useful life of 40 years and will employ 75 people in the construction phase.
Chile's solar power capacity has already surpassed 2.3 GW.
