Work starts on Sweden's largest solar park

September 14 (Solar) – Work has started this week on what will be Sweden's largest solar power park, with a capacity of 5.5 MW, Swiss power and automation group ABB (VTX:ABBN) said.

ABB is supplying a substation with switchgear, distribution transformers and relays, along with control equipment and inverters for the project.

The solar farm will be installed near Save airport, outside Gothenburg. Due to come online in November 2018, the facility is expected to generate enough electricity to supply the annual consumption of 1,100 local households.

The project is part an investment in solar by Swedish utility Goteborg Energi.

The first photovoltaic (PV) panel was symbolically put in place on Monday by Lennart Carlsson of ABB, Alf Engqvist of Goteborg Energi, Ola Serneke of construction firm Serneke and Erik Martinson of Svea Solar.
