September 14 (Solar) – Japanese financial services conglomerate Orix Corp (TYO:8591) said Thursday it has started construction on a 56.4-MW solar power plant in Yamaguchi Prefecture.

The photovoltaic (PV) park, to be built in Mine City on roughly 116 hectares, will be the largest solar facility developed and operated by Orix. It is planned to have 205,172 solar panels.

The start of operations is scheduled for October 2021 and the power plant's annual power generation is estimated at 64,880,264 kWh.

Orix is growing its portfolio of solar, geothermal, wind, and biomass power capacity. As of March 31, the overall capacity of solar plants operated and developed by the firm was around 1,000 MW.
