September 4 (Solar) – Hanergy Thin Film Power Group Ltd (HKG:0566) has agreed cooperation contracts worth USD 4.3 million (EUR 3.7m) with 15 partners in Latin America, the Chinese company said in a press release on Tuesday.
The announcement, made at the Intersolar South America Exhibition 2018 in Sao Paulo, Brazil last week, marks an entry for the company into Latin America.
The contracts envisage cooperation in several areas, including building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV), construction of thin film solar chip production lines, distribution of Hanergy mobile energy products like HanPack, Humbrella and HanPaper, and localisation of research and development (R&D), the company said.
Lv Yuan, vice president of Hanergy Thin Film Power Group, said that "having already signed contracts with 15 partners in two months after the team arrived in Brazil is just the beginning of Hanergy's successful innings in the region."
The contracts are with companies from Brazil, Chile and other Latin American countries. They include a distribution contract with Brazilian umbrella dealer Greenhouse for Hanergy's solar umbrella product Humbrella, a deal with a research unit of Brazil Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovations and Communications to develop the BIPV technology application in Brazil, and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Latin American real estate and engineering group Queiroz Galvao to explore Brazil and a greater Latin America BIPV market.
