August 20 (Solar) – Chinese solar products maker JA Solar Holdings Co Ltd (NASDAQ:JASO) announced today it has delivered 3.2 MW of its mono PERC modules for a rooftop photovoltaic (PV) system in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates.
This is the largest single-rooftop solar array in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to date, the statement says. Local logistics and transport group Aramex is the company that benefits from the PV system, which is located in a semi-desert area in Dubai, JA Solar said.
The rooftop solar array was developed on a turnkey basis by IMG Solar FZE, a subsidiary of Jordan-based Izzat Marji Group. It has an annual expected generation capacity of 5 million kWh, which represents 60% of the electricity demand of Aramex's facility as well as the ability to offset some 3,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions per year.
