July 2 (Solar) – Ecoppia, the Israeli provider of water-free solar panel cleaning robots, today said it will deploy 2,000 robots at 580 MWp of solar facilities of SB Energy in Rajasthan, India.
The company's E4 robots will be cleaning SB Energy's five sites in the Bhadla Phase III and IV solar park project. Ecoppia said the agreement with the subsidiary of Japan's SoftBank Group Corp (TYO:9984) follows recent completion of large-scale deployments with Engie SA (EPA:ENGI) and Ostro Power in the Bhadla park.
The Bhadla region has scarce water and suffers from dust storms, which lead to panel soiling and reduced energy generation, the company explained.
The Ecoppia water-free robots will clean daily the solar panels without human interference. They will be remotely managed through a cloud-based control system. The robots will save more than 2 billion litres (528 million gallons) of water over the plant's 25-year lifetime, according to the announcement.
Ecoppia says it has more than 1.5 GW of projects deployed or under deployment and almost 3 GW of secured projects.
