Brazil's wind generation rises 27% in early June


June 26 (Solar) – Brazil's wind power output has increased by 26.8% year-on-year to 5,605 average megawatts (MWa) in the first 12 days of June, according to preliminary figures released by the Power Trading Chamber (CCEE).

Wind power's share in the country's electricity generation mix went up to 9.3% from 7.2%, according to data published by CCEE in the InfoMercado Semanal, the weekly bulletin for energy generation and consumption.

Among the other renewable sources, solar and biomass also saw increases in the first half of June as compared to 2017. The former grew to 313 MWa from 27 MWa while biomass power generation rose to 4,420 MWa from 3,930 MWa. Hydropower production, on the other hand, went down to 40,546 MWa from 45,463 MWa.

The country's overall electricity generation decreased 2.8% year-on-year in the first two weeks of the month, with 60,058 MWa delivered to the National Interconnected System (SIN), CCEE noted.
